What is it with the bear events?

Well for the last 6 years I try to go once or twice a year to Bear events and I do see it as fun but lately especially the last 2 events in Spain including Bearcalona 2007 made me think What the ... I am doing here...

It is all cliches with a rip off party entrance fees and whore house versions of Saunas.I do love to travel but I think I will try to travel off event season so I can enjoy the rest of the city and meet some regular people who does not dress up like police officers or firemen.
